About
Born and raised in Belgium, I received my MA in Applied Economics at the University of Hasselt (BE), and a MA and PhD in Tourism at the KU Leuven (BE). I worked as a doctoral researcher at the Flemish Centre for Tourism Research Policy at KU Leuven, and as a researcher for VISITFLANDERS, the Destination Management Organization of the Dutch-speaking Belgian region. after these experiences, I decided to leave my own backyard and took up a position as lecturer in the Bachelor and Master programmes in International Tourism Management at Auckland University of Technology (NZ).
After a few years abroad, I returned back to Belgium to take on a position as research expert within the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at KU Leuven where I, among other things, was project manager of the HORIZON 2020 project SmartCulTour. Currently I combine a research position at VISITFLANDERS with a teaching and research assignment at KU Leuven.
